Place @white onion{2–3%tbsp}(roughly, small chopped), @green chile{1}(roughly chopped) or serrano peppers, @cilantro leaves{1–2%tbsp}(finely chopped), and a large pinch of @salt{1/2%tsp} in a #molcajete{} or #mortar and pestle{}. Pound into a fine paste. Alternatively, combine these and half of @lime juice{1–2%tsp} in a #food processor{} or #blender{} and process, scraping down sides as necessary, until smooth paste is formed.

Split each @avocado{1}(ripe) in half, discard pits, and spoon out flesh into the #molcajete{} or #mortar and pestle{} (if large enough), or combine with the onion-chile purée in a medium mixing bowl. Roughly mash with the pestle or a stiff whisk.

Stir in the remaining @cilantro leaves{} and then season with @lime juice{1–2%tsp} and @salt{} to taste.

Optionally, add finely diced @tomato{1–2%tbsp}.

Serve immediately with warm tortilla chips or as desired.
